D1 Mandeville opens in Mandeville, Louisiana

D1 Training of Mandeville is owned and operated by Mandeville natives and brothers, Jason and Tim DeMelo and their wives, Frankie and Marni.

Sports and health are central to the DeMelo family's lifestyle. Jason and Tim were active in sports during high school, fostering a lifelong dedication to fitness. Jason brings over two decades of sports performance expertise in the Mandeville and Covington area, graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, focusing on Fitness and Human Performance, and becoming USA Weightlifting certified in 2006.

Jason’s athletic journey began at Mandeville High School in football and track, continuing to college football at the University of Southern Mississippi and Southeastern Louisiana University.

In January of 2018, Jason was appointed to initiate a performance training program at Ochsner Health System. With five training centers established over the last five years and a portfolio spanning youth to professional athletes, including the NFL, MLB, and MLS, Jason has fulfilled his dream of owning a D1 Training facility in the North Shore area, eager to serve its athletes. Meanwhile, Tim, currently a riverboat pilot, rediscovered his passion for training post-college, particularly enjoying athletic-based workouts.

During the COVID lockdown, Marni began experimenting with athletic training in their garage. Impressed by her progress, she visited a nearby D1 Training location and immediately became hooked. Jason's prior experience with D1, combined with the family's shared passion for fitness, ultimately inspired their decision to embark on this new venture.

"Fitness has always been a huge passion for all of us, and owning our own gym has been a long-held dream," said Jason. "D1 Training really appealed to us because of its focus on athletic-based workouts. This concept wasn't just familiar to me from my time at D1; we've all tried it and become huge fans. We can't wait to bring this exciting experience to our hometown.”
