D1 Training Announces Largest Deal in Brand History: 12-Units Across Multiple States
Leading Fitness Franchise Flexes 2023 Development as Multi-Unit Franchisees Take Note of Brand’s Hyper-Growth
D1 Training has announced the signing of its largest deal in brand history. The fast-growth fitness franchise kicks off 2023 with a 12-unit agreement that will bring new facilities to major metropolitan markets including Minneapolis, Tampa, Dallas-Fort Worth, Long Island, etc. over the next five years.
This new agreement kickstarts the brand’s aggressive development goals to award over 100 territories in 2023, bringing D1’s total number of units in development to over 250. This comes off the heels of a record-breaking 2022, with nearly 90 territories awarded and 23 openings.
Behind the 12-unit agreement are franchisees Jonn Schumacher and Shayne Moberg. As business partners, the duo brings an impressive background in finance and accounting, corporate management, consulting, and building businesses. After discovering the D1 franchise opportunity from Consultant, Liz Leonard of FranChoice broker network, they knew they found something special. With their vast business experience, the two have come together to build a world-class-team to support this venture under Elysium Sports and Training LLC.
“Shayne and I have been working together for years, and timing just happened to be right for us to join forces and embark on a new venture together,” said Schumacher. “The fitness industry has always been attractive to us, knowing the general benefits of sports that blends into fitness, mental health, and community – it was clear D1 was the perfect fit. The energy behind the leadership team is infectious. You can see there’s a tremendous amount of passion behind this brand and we can’t wait to be a part of it.”
While still early on in the development process, the Minnesota natives have identified Minneapolis to be the home of their first four locations. They aim to begin development in each of the other metropolitan areas over the next 12-18 months.
“Equipped with a proven business model and a talented franchise support team, we’re well on our way to developing these locations over the next couple years,” added Moberg. “D1’s brand awareness is growing and they are clearly on the fast-track to nationwide expansion. We feel we’re joining just at the right time, when there’s tremendous growth potential and an opportunity to build a robust portfolio.”
Fueling D1’s aggressive development is a strategic investment from Princeton Equity Group that will continue to propel D1 into a national brand synonymous with high-caliber athletic performance and fitness. With this partnership, D1 is positioned for major expansion and is seeking qualified, community-minded franchisees like Schumacher and Moberg, with a passion for the fitness industry to further develop locations throughout the U.S.
“This is an exciting moment in our brand’s history as we actualize our growth goals with sophisticated owners like Jonn and Shayne,” said Dan Murphy, Chief Operating Officer of D1 Training. “We’ve set forth aggressive franchise development goals, and welcoming strong franchisees who are able to bring our programs to life is paramount to deliver on our future success.”
All locations offer three core training programs, Scholastic (Rookie, Developmental, Prep and Overtime), Adult and Pro. Each fitness program is based on the five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. Outside of group workouts, D1 Training offers one-on-one training with world-class coaches.
D1 Training has experienced 38% same-store-sales growth year-over-year as the industry remains strong as ever, with an untapped growth potential in scholastic training. The competitive landscape of youth sports is ever changing and having access to a place like D1 - where young athletes can hone their skills – is becoming increasingly important. This paired with D1’s adult and personal training programs are providing an unmatched opportunity.
