What Is D1 Training? It’s Athletraining.

D1 introduces a new word for the complete athlete development system that has defined the brand for more than two decades.

“What is D1 Training?”

It is one of the questions we hear most often.

Some describe D1 as sports training. Others compare it to CrossFit, HYROX, boot camps or traditional group fitness. But none of those descriptions fully captures who we are or how we train.

The simplest answer is this:

D1 is athlete training. And now, we have a word for it.

Athletraining.

Athletraining combines “athlete” and “training” to describe the proprietary system behind how D1 trains, develops and tests athletes.

It is not a new program or a change in the way D1 operates. It is a clearer way to explain what D1 has been doing for more than two decades.

Built for Athletes

D1’s name comes from the idea that everyone should have access to the type of intentional, coach-led strength and conditioning experience found inside a Division 1 collegiate athletic program.

Walk into a collegiate weight room and you will not see athletes completing random workouts. They have a plan.

They build strength. They sprint. They jump. They change direction. They develop power. They condition. They recover. They receive coaching and measure their progress.

Most importantly, they train with a purpose.

That philosophy has been at the foundation of D1 since the beginning.

Athletraining gives it a name.

More Than a Workout

There is an important distinction between exercising and training. A workout can make you sweat. It can burn calories. It can leave you tired.

Training is different. Training starts with a goal and builds a pathway toward reaching it.

For a high school football player, that goal might be getting stronger and faster before next season. For a professional athlete, it could be preparing for a combine or returning from an offseason.

For an adult, it might be losing weight, rebuilding strength, improving energy or simply becoming more capable in everyday life.

The goals are different, but the approach is similar.

Athletes set goals. Athletes accept coaching. Athletes challenge themselves. Athletes measure progress. Athletes keep working.

That is Athletraining.

Train. Develop. Test.

D1 Athletraining brings three essential elements together:

Train. Develop. Test.

  • Athletes train through structured, coach-led programming designed around proven strength and conditioning principles.

  • Athletes develop through age- and goal-specific pathways that allow them to progress over time.

  • Athletes test so they can measure improvement, identify opportunities and see the results of their work.

Together, those elements create something bigger than a collection of workouts. They create a system.

We Believe Everyone Is an Athlete

At D1, being an athlete does not require a jersey, a roster spot, or a scholarship offer. Some D1 athletes are preparing for their first youth sports season. Others are competing in high school, college or professional sports. And many haven't played a sport in years.

They are parents. Professionals. Former athletes. Beginners. People trying to lose weight. People trying to get stronger. People who simply want to feel and perform better.

What connects them is not a particular sport. It is the decision to pursue a goal and put in the work required to reach it.

That belief is why D1 has always called itself The Place for the Athlete.

Now we have a word for the way we train them.

Athletraining.

It is more than just a workout.

It’s Athletraining.
