Step Inside a D1 Training Facility

When you step into a D1 facility, everything has a purpose. The layout supports movement. The equipment supports the programming.  The environment supports the culture.

For owners, that means you’re not starting from a blank slate. You’re stepping into a model that’s been designed, tested, and refined to support how D1 trains and operates every day.

A Layout Designed for Training

D1 Training facilities are built to maximize both function and flow. Just like a collegiate or professional training center, D1 facilities are built with a dedicated turf area and weight room.

Most locations range between 3,700 and 5,000 square feet, with a prototype size of around 4,300 square feet. That footprint is intentionally designed to support group training and personal training.

While each facility is adapted to its specific real estate, the standard remains the same: create a space designed for focused, high quality training that drives real results.

Inside a D1 Facility:

  • Maximized turf space built for speed, agility, and performance work, a design feature more commonly found in collegiate and professional facilities than traditional gyms
  • A weight room built around 6 to 7 training racks, including a dedicated rack for personal training
  • Flexible rack configurations adapted to the layout of each location
  • A combination of turf and rubber flooring designed to support the full range of D1 programming

Built Around the Athlete Experience

Every detail inside a D1 facility is designed to support athletes and create a consistent experience. You won’t find sport-specific courts or fields. Instead, D1 focuses on what every athlete needs: strength, speed, and structured training that translates across sports and everyday life.

Goal-Setting Room

A dedicated room where athletes sit down with a coach to talk through their goals, build a personalized training plan, and map out what it takes to get there.

A Space That Reinforces Culture

The physical space also reflects the culture inside each D1 facility. You’ll see D1’s character words displayed throughout the facility, as well as milestone banners and athlete recognition that highlight member progress and achievements.

These elements aren’t just for show. They reinforce the standards and expectations that define the D1 experience, creating an environment that emphasizes accountability, consistency, and growth.

Equipment Designed for How D1 Trains

D1 facilities are equipped with specialized training equipment built for our performance-based training model and the way athletes move, train, and progress.

In many newer locations, this includes fully custom-produced D1 equipment designed for durability, performance, and seamless integration into the layout and flow of a high-intensity training environment.

Every piece is intentionally selected and configured to support group training, personal training, and performance work. This ensures the space functions as a cohesive system.

For franchise owners, this level of intentional design helps create a differentiated training experience that reinforces the D1 standard, supports athlete engagement, and strengthens the overall quality and professionalism within the facility.

Real Estate Requirements

We anticipate that a franchised D1 Training Facility will typically be located in commercially zoned retail and flex areas and be between approximately 3,700 and 5,000 square feet, with the prototype location size being approximately 4,300 square feet.

Within that footprint, the space must be able to accommodate a minimum of 6-7 training racks, along with turf and weight room areas that support the D1 training model.

Because every market is different, the configuration of the space may vary. D1's team works with owners to adapt the layout to the selected site while maintaining the core elements required for training, flow, and overall functionality.

The estimated initial investment, as outlined in Item 7 of the Franchise Disclosure Document, is based on a 4,300 square foot facility. If a location is smaller or larger than the prototype size, total investment costs may vary accordingly.

Facility

Built to the D1 Standard

D1 works alongside every owner to ensure the space is set up to train and operate at the D1 standard from day one. Every piece of equipment is intentionally selected, every layout decision is purposeful, and every element of the space is designed to support the programming, the coaches, and the athletes who show up every day.

The facility is the foundation, but it is the people inside it that make D1 different.
