The Matthews Mentality Meets D1 Training For Inspiring Podcast: 'Learn Delayed Gratification'

D1 Training CEO Will Bartholomew has been making the rounds in the media, nationally promoting D1's brand and mission.

On Wednesday, he appeared on commercial real estate investor Kyle Matthews' podcast The Matthews Mentality, which is dedicated on exploring the mindsets and motivations of the world's top business experts.

In the episode, Matthews and Bartholomew discussed:

• The origins of D1 Training, including a meeting with trainer Kurt Hester, who later became D1's National Director of Training, at an IHOP to create a plan in early 2002.

• Why D1 became a franchise, allowing for more people to reach their fitness goals. "I mean we're training over 30,000 athletes," Bartholomew says, "so you think about all the athletes and the influence and impact we're going to have on athletics in general."

• How to stop yourself from quitting. "Something we're trying to teach these young athletes is that progress and growth happens over time," Bartholomew said. "We sometimes have to learn delayed gratification."

• How D1 Training is adapting to the new college landscape, how to maximize your athletic potential and much more.
