If you follow golf on social media, you've probably heard of influencer Katherine Walsh.
Instead of playing college golf following an injury, Walsh turned to the media side of sports, later focusing on golf since it was one of the only sports taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She currently has over 61,000 followers on Instagram, brand deals with Titlelist and Vessel Golf and was recently named one of the Top 100 Golf Influencers.
Walsh also is a member of D1 Spring Hill, attending 5-6 classes a week and posting many of her workout highlights on Instagram.
Walsh first experienced D1 Training while volunteering for Special Olympics Tennessee Train4Life, a wellness program focused on fitness, nutrition, and mental health for teens and adults ages 13+ with intellectual disabilities.
Walsh said she is grateful that volunteering with Train4Life led her to D1.
"What started as a volunteer opportunity has grown into something so much bigger – now being part of the D1 fitness community myself," she said. "I truly feel blessed to be part of a place that values people, purpose and growth."
Physically, Walsh said D1 has led to her building strength, mobility and discipline, which has helped her on and off the golf course.
But Walsh also said working out at D1 has supported her mental health.
"I struggle with anxiety and depression, and this space has helped me stay grounded through consistency," she said. "D1 has helped me grow as an athlete, but even more, it's helped me grow as a person."
And even if some days are hard, the thing that keeps Walsh coming back is the community she's found at D1 Spring Hill.
"It's more than just a gym. It's a place where people genuinely care about each other and push each other to be better, both inside and outside the gym," Walsh said. "It's a place where I feel motivated, supported and like I truly belong."
