What You Can Expect From D1 as You Prepare to Open

Once you’ve moved through the Discovery & Decision process and signed your Franchise Agreement, you’re now ready to begin the process of opening your D1 Training facility. This is where your plans start to turn into something real in your community.

It’s an exciting stage, with a lot happening at once. Our team is there to help guide you every step of the way.

From Buildout to Grand Opening

After you sign your Franchise Agreement, you move into an active build phase. Here, you’ll work directly with a coordinated team that helps you move through each stage of opening, including:

  • Real Estate Support: Site selection guidance and lease negotiation support

  • Construction Management: Coordination with architects, contractors, and permitting teams

  • Operational Training: Systems training, facility setup, and readiness planning

  • Hiring Support: Guidance on recruiting your General Manager and coaching staff

  • Pre-Sale Strategy: Support building your member base before opening day

  • Marketing Launch Planning: Local market activation and opening campaign execution

This is a highly collaborative phase. We are in your corner, helping you navigate every moving part so you can focus on building something great from day one.

Once your doors are open, D1 support doesn’t step back. We continue to support you with an ongoing partnership focused on helping you grow, improve, and stay aligned with a proven system.

Personal Business Coaching

After the presale phase concludes, your primary point of contact becomes your Regional Business Coach (RBC). Your RBC works directly with you and your General Manager to support ongoing performance and growth.

In addition to remote support, D1’s regional teams and education staff travel directly into markets for in-facility visits and full-day workshops. This allows for hands-on coaching in actual facilities.

Extensive Operator Training

D1’s operator training is designed to reinforce key skills over time, create consistency across every location, and ensure you and your team are always building capability, not just checking a training box once.

You’ll begin with a virtual onboarding program that builds foundational understanding of the D1 system. This is followed by in-person operator training at D1 Headquarters in Nashville, where you work directly with the Home Office team.

From there, your learning continues through ongoing resources and structured development tools, including:

  • Playbook: A centralized training system with standardized modules for continued learning and reinforcement

  • Weekly Game Plan Calls -  Stay in the know, ask questions, and dig into what is happening across the network.

  • Vendor Support Week - Dedicated time to connect with and learn from D1's preferred vendors.

Franchise Summit

Franchise Summit 

The D1 Franchise Summit is our flagship annual event. This multi-day experience brings the entire system together under one roof to strengthen our system.

Expect high-impact keynote speakers, tactical breakout sessions, vendor education, and real-world business strategy you can take straight back to your facility. Past speakers have included Terrell Owens, Tim Tebow, Von Miller, Eddie George, Jason Jaggard, and other leaders in sport, business, and performance.

Coach Summit

Coach Summit

The D1 Coach Summit is our annual event dedicated to developing the coaches who deliver the D1 standard every day. Held in conjunction with the Manning Passing Academy in New Orleans, the Coach Summit brings together 100+ coaches from across the D1 network for two days of education and hands-on training.

As Will Bartholomew, Founder & CEO, puts it, "For us, performance starts with people. We know that if we help our franchisees invest in their coaches, we help drive stronger performance and our athletes thrive. That is what the D1 Coach Summit is all about."

Regional Trainings

Rather than pulling you away from your business, D1’s Education Team and Regional Business Coaches travel directly into your market to lead in-facility workshops and regional training sessions. You’ll receive practical, immediate, and relevant support without the cost or disruption of travel.

These sessions create a high-impact learning environment inside your own space. This allows you and your team to train in real conditions, troubleshoot real challenges, and learn alongside nearby D1 owners.
