Five Key Moments That Propelled D1 During an Unprecedented Year

Last year as we wrapped 2019, no one could have imagined how 2020 would unfold. The unexpected challenges unraveled even the best goals and strategies set in place as most found themselves adapting to unprecedented circumstances.

While D1 was no exception, we’re proud of the work we’ve done this year in the midst of it all. We’ve remained committed to our long-term goals, franchisees, members, and D1 family. We’ve continued to propel the brand forward and rise above the challenges at hand.

Pandemic Response

It was fast and furious as the spring approached and the pandemic threatened the livelihood of D1. In an effort to maintain the health and safety of our members, our D1 facilities closed their doors to deep clean and reevaluate.

We didn’t miss a beat.

Out of quarantine came D1toU – our 1on1, coaching and accountability program offered to all D1 members. With D1toU, our members were still able to receive our expert coaching and 5-Star Training anytime, anywhere. We knew that goals couldn’t wait and results don’t stop. Our coaches trained via Zoom calls and the TrainHeroic app, checked in via text messages, and provided support via nutrition and goal guidance.

We not only survived – we thrived.

50 Open Locations

Despite it all, we officially hit 50 open D1 locations across the country!

Our franchisees did not slow down, and their passion to impact their communities only increased.

In addition to the 50 open locations, we also added 34 newly awarded territories for a total of 174. Needless to say, we’re just getting started and have an exciting 2021 ahead.

National PR Coverage

Forbes, Entrepreneur, Inc 5000… just to name a few.

Our CEO, Will Bartholomew was featured in Forbes on how D1 is handling “the longest offseason in history,” and our COO, Dan Murphy, completed an interview with Entrepreneur about how his military background is helping to lead our franchisees to success.

Included in the 2020 Inc 5000 list, D1 was also tabbed one of fastest growing companies in America. In a year that could have changed that trajectory, we’re grateful and proud to continue moving forward.

Continued Education Opportunities

Perhaps more than ever, community and opportunities to learn from one another is not only missed and wanted but needed.

Fortunately, before the pandemic hit earlier this year, we were able to host all of our franchisees in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for a full, few days at our Franchise Summit. Everyone gathered to network, discuss, learn and buy into a fitting theme for the year – Believe. Franchisees heard from performance coach Jason Jaggard, keynote speaker Tim Tebow, and more. While we were unaware of what lied ahead, the momentum that was built at the Franchise Summit carried us through as a franchise system. We are in it together.

In addition to the Franchise Summit, we were also able to host a Virtual Coach Summit in November for all of our D1 coaches. Our coaches are the backbone of D1, and our boots on the ground. It was of utmost importance that the system come together to encourage and support them. The event focused on the career growth and learning opportunities to develop and progress as a coach.

Three New Corporate Hires

Our Home Office team is growing alongside our increased open facilities and awarded territories.

Meet Cole, Meredith, and Dillan!

Cole Arranaga came on board in January as the VP of Operations.

Meredith Turner joined D1 in February as the Director of Marketing and Events.

Dillan McCullough is the latest addition to the team coming on as a Field Support Director in October.

These are just a few of the steps we’ve taken this year to propel D1 forward. 2020 has been a year like no other. While there have been many challenges to navigate, we’re proud of our team and franchisees for pivoting and adapting to ensure our long-term goals are still in reach. For many reasons, we’re ready to step into a new year, and we can’t wait for you to see what happens next!
